Host A Class

If you are considering hosting a class, Smart Interdiction is happy to field inquiries and answer your questions.

Please consider the following information:

Host agencies receive at least two no-cost student slots (state law allowing) for hosting a class. When a class registration has filled to 40 paying students, an additional no-cost student slot is added. This holds true for each additional 30 paying students. The average class size is around 40 students but can rise to as many as several hundred.

Smart Interdiction generally conducts one, and rarely more than two, classes in a given state for a calendar year. This may vary based on instructor availability, as most of our instructors are full time law enforcement officers. Hosting a class guarantees officers from your department receive quality training by recognized experts.

Smart Interdiction has multiple advertising avenues we utilize to make potential departments and students aware of an upcoming training, but the assistance of the host agency is vital to the success of the class. Please see below for details.

The host agency is asked to provide the following in order to facilitate the training:

-A training facility or classroom capable of holding at least 50 students, but preferably up to 100 students

-A powerpoint projector with all connecting cords and usual accessories

-A sound system capable of either plugging directly into a laptop computer or an independent sound system capable of plugging into a laptop or via Bluetooth

-A screen capable of clearly displaying video images cast by a powerpoint projector and easily visible to the entire classroom

-The willingness and ability to advertise the class out through normal law enforcement communications channels to the entire affected state and, if possible, to all surrounding states

-A contact point within the department who can answer questions from departments or officers who may wish to inquire about any specifics about the class. This would include name, telephone, email and any other information the contact would wish to supply, keeping in mind that this information WILL appear on the Smart Interdiction website as part of the class registration process.

Some additional information may be considered by the host agency but are not requirements of hosting a class:

-Prepare for the need for an alternate training site if student numbers climb above 45 and the original site can only accommodate 50 students

-Provide beverages and refreshments for the class

-Smart Interdiction does not charge departments for travel or other related expenses. All travel related to instructors for Smart Interdiction are handled by the company. There are no hidden or additional expenses for a host agency to worry about.

-Smart Interdiction handles all registrations, payments, and any inquiries not specifically directed to the host agency by other law enforcement entities.

-Smart Interdiction will provide a Certificate of Attendance to each student who successfully completes the course of instruction. These will generally be accessed by the student via a provided website and can only be delivered after the student has completed a course critique.

-Smart Interdiction will provide to the host agency, at no cost and at the agency’s request, an electronic copy of, or access to, course critiques that have been completed by the students.
